DIY-ing over: A Simple Sign

My boyfriend's daughter has been talking about opening a flower shop ever since I met her and while picking every flower he has in his backyard has been cutting it thus far for her...a suggestion from my aunt inspired me to start Ms. Heaven her own little garden for her to use as her flower shop.

What better way to open a shop than to have a sign for it?

DIY Sign
DIY-ing time: approximately 2 hours

  1. Use old wood you may have or go buy two pieces from your local hardware store - I used wood in my aunt's scrap pile
  2. Buy large enough stickers in a font you like at your local craft store
  3. Stick them to the board with your desired message
  4. Tape off areas you do not want paint
  5. With a razor blade, cut out detail you would like paint on - I made little notches inspired by one of the "A Beautiful Mess" iPhone app borders
  6. For extra detail, cut out shapes you like and add them to the board - I cut out arrows pointing up to her garden
  7. Spray paint

For the stick it's mounted on
  1. Tape a pattern onto the stick
  2. Spray paint
  3. Outline lines with accent color

I added the accent color to the sign as well to pull it all together.

Nail it on and stick it in the ground and boom! Simple Sign DIY completed.
